Eye
Inflammation
Eye
Inflammation can be a mild eye condition, or a
serious problem like Panuveitis, choroiditis or even a
type of glaucoma.
The most
common causes for developing eye inflammation include
allergy, infection, eye surgery or trauma. What
is important is to control the extent and
seriousness of eye inflammation to avert scarring to the
tissues of the eye. Even small amounts of damage can lead
to irreversible loss of eyesight. You must make it a
point to consult an eye doctor if you are suffering from
persistent eye inflammation.
Some
visible symptoms of eye inflammation
include:
Pain
Redness
Swelling
Heat
Eye
inflammation typically take place as the body's answer to
viral or bacterial infection, but it can also occur when
there is no infection. Other events like eye
surgery or being around smoke or other irritants can lead
to eye inflammation.
Eye
inflammation is sometimes due to Choroiditis, a condition
where there is swelling in the choroid or the layer at
the back (the retina) in the eye. In most patients it
only affects one of the eyes. There are several people
who suffer from Glaucoma, in this eye condition there is
damage to the edge of the optic
nerve.
There are
numerous other causes for eye inflammation like Uveitis,
Conjunctivitis, Episcleritis and more. Due to the variety
of factors, many times it requires a professional
diagnosis from the eye doctor to get an insight to the
basis of an eye inflammation.
